Ever wonder how we pull off that “aha!” moment when solving a tricky puzzle or making a surprising connection? During my PhD I will explore how the brain integrates domain-specific knowledge with domain-general processes to solve complex tasks. Specifically, I aim to investigate underlying changes in internal representations – how our brains dynamically activate and reconfigure stored knowledge in absence of direct external stimuli. I will investigate these multidimensional representations using both neuroimaging techniques and state of the art computational models.
